Established on 20 June 1980, Mount Carmel High School is a Catholic school in Bowenpally, Secunderabad, educating children from LKG to Class X in a tradition of academic excellence, strong values and genuine care for every child.

Mount Carmel High School was established on 20 June 1980 under the guidance of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, founded by Rev. Fr. Allam Marreddy — who envisioned an institution offering quality education rooted in Christian values, moral integrity and academic excellence.

It began modestly, with L.K.G., U.K.G. and Classes I and II, housed at St. Mary's High School. As it grew, the school moved to its present campus at Bowenpally in October 1980. The first building was completed and solemnly blessed on 16 July 1981 — the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel — by Most Rev. Dr. S. Arulappa, then Archbishop of Hyderabad.

Since that day the school has held to one mission: to nurture the intellectual, moral, spiritual, social and physical development of every student, and to form responsible citizens with compassion, discipline and a spirit of service. It is managed by the Hyderabad Archdiocesan Educational Society (HAES).

Since its inception, our institution has been blessed with visionary Correspondents and Principals whose dedication, leadership and commitment have played a vital role in shaping the school's growth and excellence.

    Rev. Fr. Allam Marreddy
    1980 – 1986

    Rev. Fr. Allam Marreddy

    “Quality education to students from all sections of society.”

    As the founder of the institution, Rev. Fr. Allam Marreddy laid a strong foundation with the noble vision of providing quality education to students from all sections of society. His foresight, dedication and commitment established the values and traditions that continue to guide the school today.

    • 20 June 1980 — established under the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, beginning with L.K.G., U.K.G. and Classes I & II, housed at St. Mary's High School.
    • October 1980 — the school moves to its own campus at Bowenpally.
    • 16 July 1981 — the first building is completed and solemnly blessed by Most Rev. Dr. S. Arulappa, Archbishop of Hyderabad, on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
  2. Rev. Fr. Swarna Bernard
    1986 – 1991

    Rev. Fr. Swarna Bernard

    During his tenure, the school witnessed significant academic development through the construction of the school library and the establishment of the computer laboratory. These facilities greatly enhanced both learning resources and technological education for students.

  3. Rev. Fr. M. Anthony Reddy
    1991 – 1996

    Rev. Fr. M. Anthony Reddy

    He built on that foundation: the school library was reorganised and extended in a systematic way, and the computer laboratory was re-equipped with new machines — widening students' access to technology.

  4. Rev. Fr. G. Anthony
    1996 – 2001

    Rev. Fr. G. Anthony

    Rev. Fr. G. Anthony modernised the school's administrative system by introducing computerised office management and billing procedures. He also established the school band, promoting discipline and extracurricular excellence, and introduced a punch-card-based examination evaluation system, bringing greater efficiency and transparency to student assessment.

    2001 – 2005

    Rev. Fr. Yeruva Bala

    Under his leadership, the institution continued its steady progress by strengthening academic administration and supporting the overall development of the school community.

  6. Rev. Fr. Thatireddy Jayaraj
    2005 – 2010

    Rev. Fr. Thatireddy Jayaraj · first tenure

    Rev. Fr. Jayaraj upgraded the computer laboratory with advanced computer systems, ensuring students had access to improved technological resources. He also enhanced the Kindergarten learning environment by introducing colourful educational paintings, creating a more engaging and child-friendly atmosphere.

  7. Rev. Fr. Marneni Arogyam
    2010 – 2013

    Rev. Fr. Marneni Arogyam

    His tenure focused on maintaining the institution's standards while supporting the continued academic and administrative growth of the school.

  8. Rev. Fr. Louis Golamari
    2013 – 2014

    Rev. Fr. Louis Golamari

    Rev. Fr. Louis renovated the school chapel, providing a more serene and inspiring place for prayer and reflection. He also implemented a significant increase in the basic pay of both teaching and non-teaching staff, recognising their dedicated service and boosting staff welfare.

    2014 – 2019

    Rev. Fr. K. Marreddy

    During his administration, several infrastructure projects were completed, including the construction of the campus footpath, staircase and volleyball court. These developments improved campus accessibility, safety and sports facilities for students.

    Rev. Fr. Thatireddy Jayaraj
    2019 – 2024

    Rev. Fr. Thatireddy Jayaraj · second tenure

    His second term was marked by exemplary leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. He successfully ensured the continuity of education through challenging circumstances while prioritising the health, safety and well-being of students, teachers and staff. His guidance helped the institution emerge stronger and more resilient.

    2024 – today

    Rev. Fr. Baltha Raj

    Continuing the tradition of progress, Rev. Fr. Baltha Raj has undertaken several major development initiatives. These include repainting the entire school campus, installing CCTV surveillance systems to enhance campus security, renovating the Kindergarten section, and introducing a variety of student-centred activities that promote holistic development, creativity, leadership and overall personality growth.

Rev. Fr. Baltha Raj Bandaru

“My vision is to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every child is empowered to discover their God-given talents.”

Rev. Fr. Baltha Raj Bandaru has served as Principal of Mount Carmel High School since 2024. A priest of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, ordained in 2007, he holds a Master's degree in Social Work — and believes an education should shape character as surely as it sharpens the mind.
